lets have a party.
I like celebrations and love to find a reason for one. I really get into saying “Happy…Birthday/Christmas/Sunday/Flag Day/ etc.”
After this holiday season I realized a perfectly valid reason to “go all out” for celebrations and holidays: life will be full of ho hum if you want it to be. Sorrow is unavoidable. Mishap and crying will happen. Disappointment is sure to find you.
Before you mistake me for cynical I’ll say, “ergo” enjoy the good times extra well.
I’m not saying fake it or buy things you don’t need or buy cheap candy (unless, of course, its kitschy-cheap and thoughtful). I’m simply saying that you should take advantage of days specifically and nationally planned for us to best ensure that everyone you love is in the same room. I’m saying that you should use it as a reason to go on a trip, make traditions, include people, draft stories worth being told. I’m saying that there’s too many shitty times to not TAKE ADVANTAGE OF or MAKE reasons to celebrate. Deliberate and intentional celebration.
